      Last week, we heard about the news of Elon Musk’s buying stocks of Twitter and becoming the largest stakeholder in this social media company. Then Mr. Parag Aggarwal (CEO of Twitter), twitted that Mr. Musk will soon be joining board of directors. But now Parag says that Musk doesn’t want to be a part of the board. Also, Musk with some of his tweets suggested the company add an edit button for blue users. I Hope Musk will be suggesting more development for Twitter. For this Agrawal said, “there will be distractions ahead, but our goals and priorities remain unchanged. The decisions we make and how we execute are in our hands, no one else’s”.       Back then, It was not possible to close a FASTag and choose another one with the same vehicle number because of its persistent linkage with the number. It was very difficult to switch to a different FASTag operator because of damaged Tag or unsatisfied service. According to this new guideline which will be implemented on the 30th of June, 2022. Fastag user can delink their vehicle number and choose new tags on the same number. This facility was possible after NPCI (National Payment Corporation of India) made changes to the implication of FASTag by including three new execution codes. What are these codes, Codes are specific label given to fastags that helps toll plazas to identify the status of tags. Fastag to ease toll payment Before, there were only three execution codes, Blacklistlow balanceExempted The newly included codes are – HotlistClosed/ReplacedInvalid Carriage Work of different codes, 1. Hotlist – This will identify tags with negative balance or violations. 2. Exempted – When a vehicle is free from toll fare as per road ministry guidelines. 3. Low-Balance – This label stated to the customer who has an account balance below the minimum threshold limit but not in a negative balance. 4. Invalid Carriage – It is for people owning a vehicle with a physical disability 5. Blacklist – Labels that hold charges for violation by the administrative & regulatory bodies. 6. Closed/Replaced – If the customer has closed the Tag, surrendered the Tag, or re-issued for a new Tag. FASTag is an electronic toll collection process, developed by NPCI.       Single-use plastic has become a big problem globally, as they are used once and discarded. Products like cups, plates, carry, and straw comes under single-use plastic. Fact:- The world produces 300 Million Ton of plastic each year, half of which are single-use plastic. Some Plastic waste is recyclable, but the sheer volume of waste that covers 90% of plastic waste isn’t recycled. It damages our environment a lot. India itself produced 660 thousand tons of waste in 2019, 40% of which were from packaging. If no active measurement is issued,  Plastic waste there will be around 12 million tons of plastic litter in landfills by 2050. Effects of plastic on the environment, As plastic is a non-biodegradable material, it cannot be decomposed and affect our environment badly. The decision for this conduct happened last year, 2021. “We have issued directions to state pollution control boards, almost all e-commerce websites, single-use plastic sellers and users, central board of indirect taxes and customs, stating that no single-use plastics identified in the notification dated August 12, 2021, should be sold, stocked or used,” a board official said on condition of anonymity. “There have been several meetings and discussions on the implementation of the ban, so we are expecting all stakeholders to comply.” After this, Ban will become active on 1st July. Prohibited items included in the ban are buds, flags, candy, and ice-cream sticks, decorative Thermocol, PVC banners less than 100 microns thick, stirrers, wrapping films, cups, glasses, and cutlery, among others. Problems related to banning, This ban will not be the first attempt at the single-used plastic ban. The government has attempted multiple bans over the past three decades. The problem that occurs in India are, 1. Enforcement – Central pollution control board and state pollution control board have poor control over the system because of less staff, poor coordination, and inadequate power. 2. Alternative – It is easy to stop big producers and consumer-like Amazon.  But what about the small manufacturer and illegal ones, they will not look for a hard alternative for plastic. 3. Time – It takes time to make people aware. Powers given to pollution control boards, The government has directed state boards to revoke or modify consents and registrations issued to producers of single-use plastics to ensure they have zero inventory by July 1st.  The state pollution boards will also have to direct raw material manufacturers to stop supply and e-commerce companies to discontinue selling banned items. On February 4, the central pollution had issued notices to inform producers of certain single-use plastic products, stockists, retailers, e-commerce companies, shopping malls, and others about ensuring zero inventory of prohibited items by June 30.
